As a long term fan of Nina for her character and religious beliefs rather than her music, I have to say I'm very disappointed in what I'm reading about her in the press lately. I sympathise with her being hurt over her husband leaving but people's paths do change and with her religious beliefs I would've thought she would've dealt with it in a more peaceful and accepting manner. Instead I'm seeing a mad woman desperate to cause hurt to her ex, why? I wish she'd move on & be happy, I don't like seeing all this bitchy behaviour from her, maybe she's not the saint I thought she was :( I just found a bizarre website she's made about her ex....why waste time on that? She must be in such pain. A million hugs for her, i hope she can get over this soon and we can see the positive light shine from her again.

There is a resource on the web called Jewhoo that lists Jewish entertainers. It's quite fun actually, especially for us Jews, who are rivalled only by Canadians for playing 'spot the kinsman.' Well anyway, Jewhoo lists Nina as a Jew, born of a Jewish mother and a Gentile father. It cites as its main source an interview with Merv Griffin and Don Rickles. Nina and Merv were talking about how harsh the German language sounds to English-speaking ears. If I remember correctly they used 'schmetterling' (butterfly) as an example. Rickles made a crack about hiding his family when he hears German and Nina said 'Well I was Jewish so I was not involved in that.' So, here's my question... If Eva Maria Hagen is indeed Jewish, how on earth did she, as a relatively well-known entertainer, escape the camps? Does anyone have the real scoop on just where Nina's Jewish roots are? First and foremost I have Cha Cha on US format DVD or VHS (I have the European also). I can't wait for the new album! Nina is always a surprise and I think it's an incedible idea to do a 'Big Band' album although the idea isn't really new as we know Robbie Williams did the same kind of record a few years ago, BUT I am convinced that Nina is doing it in her very own special and wonderful way and it will be MUCH better :) I have a question: has anyone of you bought this 'Om namah shivay' album? I was introduced to Nina's music when I was 16, and fell in love with all that she was about. Im now 34 and saw her perform for the first time last night at the Key Club. She was everything and more and more and more... I wouldnt expect everyone to like or understand her. but I cant imagine anyone not being entertained by her performance.This woman worked her ass off. Her show is: bizzare, sensitive, hillarious, serious, professional, spontanious...Wow. She has portrait of herself in her attic or something, because hasnt aged a day in 20 years. She looks FLAWLESS!!! She did old stuff new stuff, covers....I had a total blast. For real. If she passes your way, go see her. The tickets are more than reasonable. Yesterday I watched a very interesting movie on video, 'Europa' which is directed by Lars von Trier. Release year 1991. In the end I suddenly recognized a familiar voice: Nina dueting with a male singer! Does anybody know where to get the soundtrack of this movie? Jarmo PS. Here's some info on the movie: The plot: An American of German descent arrives in post-war Germany 1945 with little sense of how desperate a world he's entering.
